Credit notes respect the issued invoice balance
Client credit notes now use the issued invoice's amount and tax, including its discount, and refuse a credit larger than the balance remaining to credit.
When you issue a credit note for a client invoice, the amount comes from that invoice's issued figures. A full credit includes the invoice's discount. Partial credits cannot add up to more than the original invoice, even if two staff members submit at the same time. Retrying the same submission after an uncertain response checks the original credit note. For a partial credit, enter the amount after any invoice discount and before VAT. The issued invoice supplies the VAT basis and caps the total credit. If an invoice combines different VAT rates, a partial credit asks for financial review until a per-rate tax breakdown is available. A full credit can still reverse the issued invoice's exact total and VAT. This rule applies to every venue that uses client invoices. If a credit-note response is interrupted, the original request is kept in the current browser tab. Reopening the dialog or refreshing that tab resumes the same request; amounts remain locked until the result is confirmed. Switch back to the original staff account and venue to continue. A definitive validation refusal lets staff correct the form. Closing a tab or using a different device still requires checking the invoice's credit history before starting another request.
