A refunded appointment payment now frees its time slot
Sometimes a paid online appointment has to be refunded, for example when the time was taken or the booking could not be completed. In those cases the appointment could stay in your calendar as confirmed even though the client had been refunded. That blocked the time slot. The refund record also sometimes showed a later technical reason instead of the one that actually caused the refund.

In those cases the appointment could stay in your calendar as confirmed even though the client had been refunded. That blocked the time slot. The refund record also sometimes showed a later technical reason instead of the one that actually caused the refund. Now the appointment is cancelled automatically, once, in the same step that records the refund. The client gets no cancellation message, because they have already been told about the refund. No cancellation fee is charged. If you reinstate that appointment afterwards, it stays reinstated. The refund keeps the reason that actually caused it. A booking that was created and paid for is never refunded just because its price or settings changed afterwards, or because of a temporary system problem. If a paid booking gets stuck, it is picked up again automatically every 15 minutes. It is either completed or, if it definitely could not be created, refunded. When the booking app and the payment provider confirm the same payment at the same moment, only one of them completes the booking.
Paid appointment bookings no longer get refunded by mistake
When a client paid for an appointment online, the booking could fail right after the payment went through. The client was told the time was no longer free and their payment was refunded, even though nobody else had taken that time. The booking was created and paid for. Then it was treated as if it clashed with another booking, when that other booking was the client's own.
